Afrika wa Yesu Administrative Assistant and Hostess
Christa Hyde with Afrika wa Yesu
After teaching missionary children in Mozambique with Wycliffe Bible Translators for two years, Christa Hyde is now serving as administrative assistant and hostess for visiting teams at Afrika wa Yesu, a ministry and Bible college in Inhaminga, Mozambique. Her work there includes planning and supervising the ministry schedules. She is also involved in evangelism outreaches, local church ministry and children's ministry.
Afrika wa Yesu was founded in 1990 by Rodney and Ellie Hein to train national leaders from all over Mozambique in the Word of God, practical evangelism, and discipleship. The students and staff participate in evangelism outreaches, children's crusades, and women's conferences. They also have a dental clinic in Inhaminga which serves the Bible school students as well as the community and a traveling clinic which serves people in outlying areas that have never seen a dentist. Children's ministry is also a big part of the ministry of Afrika wa Yesu. The Afrika wa Yesu staff is a dedicated group of nationals and internationals working together.
When Christa was a student at Christ for the Nations in Dallas, TX she went to Afrika wa Yesu on several short term trips. In 2003 she spent 3 months there attending their missions training school designed to provide both ministry and practical missions training.
Christa writes: “I don't have the space to tell you all the details of how God opened this door for me, but I am convinced that this is His plan for my life at this point.”
Christa’s shares her prayer requests:
Language learning: as always, I still need to learn to speak Portuguese better.
Church: Please pray for God's leading as I get involved in a local Church- I want to find a church where I can really get settled and build relationships. I would also like to be able to train people in children's ministry, so I need God to raise up the right people. I know there are lots of churches that want a missionary to come and help them, so I need God's guidance.
Children's ministry: again, I need God's guidance. There are SO many children and so many needs. I just want be open to what God has for me to do. I really enjoy doing Bible clubs, but I want to minister to physical needs as well. So, I need to find a good balance.
